Heartwings Love Notes 300 - Another Milestone !

Heartwings says, " When you count the miles you can see how far you have come."

As I sat down to write my 300th Heartwings Love Notes column I thought about its beginning in the spring of 2001. Originally I had created a longer weekly newsletter called Heartwings Place, published by an Internet friend on her site. When she had to discontinue it, I decided to publish it myself.

However, Heartwings Place, a combination of recipes, household hints, children's stories and personal commentary was time consuming. The new effort, shorter and simpler, was modeled it after Good Earth keeping, my newspaper column in our local paper. Originally conceived as a way to acquaint readers with environmental issues and happenings, it also occasionally included personal reflections. Readers often told me that these were the columns they preferred.

Heartwings Love Notes number one was titled Pruning, and I continued that theme with others: Weeding, Watering, and so on. While I soon ran out of gardening terms and evolved other themes, I never ran out of subject matter. Incidents from my own life provide plenty of material. I have enjoyed sharing my insights and experiences and my readers tell me they enjoy them too.

I was gratified recently by reader response to an email I sent to my list offering to remove anyone who no longer read the column. Many kind emails arrived in my in box warming my heart and telling me how much my readers looked forward to and valued the Love Notes and how helpful they were. From my childhood I have hoped to be of help. If you have a question or issue you would like me to write about, please let me know; I will do my best to address it.
