February

February, the shortest month of the year is often one of the most interesting. It is powered by erratic Uranus, meaning anything can happen--but wait, Saturn planet of stability and structure was and still is it's ruler as well. This is the wonderful paradox of Aquarius and of Aquarians: Sometimes this period as well as its natives, appears to be just plain off the wall and then when you least expect it, suddenly turn conservative. Abraham Lincoln is an example.

The New Moon in Aquarius falls on the 8th, suggesting that over the next two weeks leading up to the Full Moon we build on our old friendships and work to make new ones. We can also increase our inventive creativity as well as our altruistic activity. The Full Moon on the 21st in Virgo suggests we use the next two weeks to release ill health, stodginess, and/or disorganized behavior, and learn ways to take better care of ourselves, our belongings, and others.

This month, besides the Sun which always changes signs monthly, there are only two planets changing signs and none changing direction. Mercury starts the month in organized Capricorn and moves to eccentric Aquarius on the 13th. Venus goes from practical Capricorn at the start of the month to quirky Aquarius on the 16th. Jupiter, the only retrograde planet, stays that way throughout the entire month. This can indicate delays in benefits or a return to a former one. You might review any entitlements or even investments. This would apply to all but especially to Virgos, somewhat to Capricorns and Tauruses.

This is a rather quiet month astrologically. There are no big guns looming on the horizon or stressful planetary conflicts in store for us. To me what this means is that it is up to us to use the energies available to us to the best advantage that we can. For instance, the cycles of the Moon and the signs that she moves through can be very helpful in planning our activities. In the weeks from New to Full we need to plan activities around increase. On the Full to New cycle, it's time to pare down, eliminating what is used up, outmoded or useless.

The first weekend in February is powerful with much opportunity to be explored. The 5th holds a potential for positive change fueled by a good choice in the right direction But be mindful of impulsive choices on the 6th that could turn out badly; the 6th and the 7th also hold a potential for accidents involving carelessness or haste. However, the 6th also holds a potential benefit from some form of good communications or possibly an opportunity to learn something helpful or useful.  A friendly, cheerful aspect enhances the 9th and 10th. On the 28th: be mindful of focus, investigate what may seem too good to be true.

Checking in with the signs the Moon is in will be your best bet to enhance your opportunities and plan your activities this month.
